Yes, another t-shirt yarn rug! I have wood floors and a dog who slips on the wood so area rugs are a must. And -since I own a dog, my rugs must be washable. And – rugs that I buy wear out pretty quickly from being put through the washer all the time. So yes, another t-shirt rug!
I’m new to crochet but I have found it to be very relaxing and mindless – at least when making a rug. I have learned a new stitch, the double crochet, so that is what I used for this rug. I started with a chain of 42 which looked about right for the width of a rectangle rug. Since this rug was going to be done in rows I had to decide if I would change colors at the beginning of a row or just use the whole shirt changing wherever it ran out. I decided to just go until the shirt ran out. I didn’t like how dirty the white shirts looked in my first rug so I dyed several with Rit Dye I’m happy with how it turned out. Of course there is always room for improvement.
In this close up you can see some of the design from the shirt, I think it just adds to the charm.
Excellent! I love working with T-shirts!
